This book accompanied an exhibition of the work of Winnipeg-based filmmaker and artist Guy Maddin at The Power Plant in 2003. Maddin, Canada's premiere independent filmmaker, is celebrated for his mastery of silent film techniques and his exquisitely artificial art production. The publication takes the form of a fictionalized autobiographical screenplay titled Cowards Bend the Knee, and features images from ten new films Maddin produced for his exhibition at The Power Plant, an introductory essay by Philip Monk and an interview with Maddin by Robert Enright.
