The Power Plant - 231 Queens Quay W, Toronto, Ontario M5J 2G8
We collaborate with artists to offer new artworks, editions, exhibition catalogues, publications, and unique merchandise—available at The Power Plant’s shop.
By revelling in the rapport between art, design, the applied arts, and architecture, Pae White encourages viewers to take a closer look at familiar objects, processes and spaces. White’s exhilarating and experimental oeuvre is constantly evolving in its roaming across different material forms and contexts with a sense of exuberant abandon.
This 80-page hardcover catalogue is designed by White and Juliette Bellocq. Along with high-resolution images of Material Mutters and past exhibitions, this catalogue includes a visual overview of White’s ever-evolving practice, and a cloth cover with foil treatment that reflects the pattern White produced for her piece, Future Fabric (2010). Alongside the unique cover and stunning images is an insightful essay by German professor, art historian, art critic, and curator Oliver Zybok, as well as an incisive and frenetic take on White’s tapestries by writer Susan Emerling.
This publication is a proud recipient of the 2011 Immortal OAAG Awards in the Design category.
