On view from 26 June – 6 September in 1992, The Creation…of the African-Canadian Odyssey was a group exhibition curated by Nkiru Nzegwu composed solely of Canadian artists of African heritage. Nzegwu wanted an exhibition that would not only show a collection of artworks, but would also create a telling environment where a unique African aesthetic could be seen to be working together with an artistic record of black social experience in Canada.
This 32-page softcover catalogue features a foreword by The Power Plant curator Richard Rhodes, essay by exhibition curator Nkiru Nzegwu and a profile on each artist included in the exhibition.
